CloudPhysics Knowledge Base Advisor what does it do

Posted by on July 30, 2013 in Tools | 0 comments

Today the CloudPhysics team is taking the covers off of the new Knowledge Base Advisor card. This card is the latest edition to the Beta SaaS based monitoring tool that CloudPhysics is building. The new card aims to make finding related Knowledge Base information easier.

To get things rolling you deploy a collector virtual appliance into your environment that will anonymize your stats and send them back to CloudPhysics and import into your account. You will then have a dashboard that has a number of cards on it for various reports. The new card as shown below is a link to KB articles that apply to your environment.

Once you enter the Knowledge base Advisor card you will see a screen like the one shown below. This card shows you all the KB articles that apply to your environment that the CloudPhysics appliance is collecting data on. Today they are able to show articles from VMware, HP, IBM and other vendors.

The cards can be filtered by a number of different criteria that I have listed below.

  • Severity (Critical, High, Medium or Low)
  • Publisher (VMware, Dell, HP, IBM and others)
  • Hypervisor (vSphere versions)
  • Keywords

So how does this help you? Well there are probably a number of ways you might be able to use this. But a couple that come to mind are using this to help troubleshoot an issue that you are currently experiencing. Another possible use would be to search for issues that you might need to address to prevent a future issue are a few reasons that come to mind.
