VMworld 2012 San Francisco Day 1 wrap up summary
Well day 1 at VMworld 2012 was an exciting one with the first keynote sessions today that featured Paul and Pat the exiting CEO and the new CEO of VMware covering what is being announced. These are some of the main items that I was most interested in and will add to them as the night goes on.
vCloud 5.1 News
I was very pleased with what I heard from VMware today about the new features in vCloud 5.1. Also I need to get the full details on the new licensing but if things are truly per socket licensed again, I like that direction. It also should stack up well against Microsoft.
I wrote a summary of whats new in vCloud 5.1 here.
vSphere 5.1 News
Some really big and exciting things were added to vSphere 5.1 and will help VMware build their vision. These should help keep VMware ahead of other hypervisors and the licensing changes will make customers happy.
New vSphere 5.1 items can be found here on a write by Hersey.
